First, take stock of your interests, skills, and potential. No one can start a profitable business by sheer luck. You personally have to bring something to the table, so to speak. Lastly, understand the market itself. Whom exactly are you selling to? Remember that you cannot hope to sell everything to everyone. You need to specify exactly with whom you will be dealing, then exert all efforts to reach that market better. If you are looking to reach the youth demographic, then obviously you will use advertising methods that will draw them. That, however, will not help you reach senior citizens. In other words, you have to choose.
